I'm going to keep this short becuase I will be starting a thread in the projects section to follow this from start till its on the road.

New to motorcycles, new to Cafes. My dad was raised on bikes, and currently has a 67 triumph TR6 all stock that he restored. Hes more into original, im more into custom. Were going to try and work together on this. I'll keep you updated. LoL.

I've been lurking and learning around here and other boards a long time and finally got to the point where I felt like I was ready to start. So here she is. 1979 CB650, 17,000. miles. Running but a little rough. Right now am in the process of stripping her down, she came with the purple rain treatment (as you can tell from the bonepile.) surely this stuff has to be worth something to someone. Hopefully I can sell off on ebay and help fund the project, even if its just a little $.

Here are my goals.

- move/replace battery (kick start only am thinkin)
- move electronics master panel
- Handmake cafe seat
- Change out air filter to different then stock
- 4>1 exhaust powder coated black
- rear sets
- new clip-ons/bars (still haven't decided which way to jump on this
- custom headlights
- new paint
- Dual front discs

Sounds pretty ambitious really but I think its a good first push. My goal is to be on the road by as early as the weather will let me next spring.

Looks like a good bunch of peeps around here. Look forward to getting to know all ya'll a bit, and def. pickin ure braaains.

Hey Low_lo,
What part of Idaho, East or West? I'm in Boise and Might be able to help out a bit if you need it. At any rate, I'd like to watch the project move along. My XS650 Yamaha still needs a little fab work on the tail.
