just wondering what type sealant should be used on the mating surfaces when putting the case back together?should it be applied to both sides or just one?..here is a quote from the honda book:"apply a uniform coating of liquid packing on the mating flange"..not really sure what liquid packing is,but i read somewhere that it was a bad japanese translation.ive only split the cases on harley and i used the indian head shellac..is that stuff ok?or is there something better thats not as messy?

'Hondabond' is the modern equivalent to what they are referring to. 'Hondabond', 'Threebond 1194', and 'Yamabond' are all the same thing. I can't remember the exact process, but the stuff comes in a tube and is of a very thin consistency. I spread it on my case half with a small paint brush.

Read the instructions and let it 'tack' then place case halves together so they 'stick'
put all the bolts in but don't torque them for at least 15mins

watch out where you put that stuff when you put the top end together.....

You do have a factory manual right?

right on.yeah.the factory manual says to torque down the bottom half to 15 then flip it over and install the top bolts and torque the same.(but in a specific order)
