Does an engine need gas to turn over? (Without tank the bike made like a clicking sound with the electric start button pushed, but now it doesn't make any sound, still with no gas tank on) Just curious
Hook your car battery up to it with jumper cables... If it suddenly jumps to life then... Dead battery for sure. Quick way to rule a battery in or out if you don't have a volt meter.
i do have a 12v, but if it is dead does that mean I need to buy a new battery? or can i just like jump it and let it charge with the motor running like a car? The one I have was like brand new but I had it hooked up when the bike was sitting in the shed with a dead alternator rotor so im thinking that drained it (its now swapped out for a new functioning one)
No it won't charge it... Just to let you know if the battery is the issue. This method can be used to diagnose a poor system or a battery not firing the ignition properly. Don't leave it hook like this for more than a few minutes.
You likely can charge the old battery with a charger while out of the bike. Take it to the parts house where you purchased and they can charge it for free. I have revived a battery like that.
