Steering bearings cb450/750- who knows the switchover?

I am told that the 750 steering stem has sealed or at least not loose ball bearings in it. I'm about to replace them due to PHO (previous hack owner) abuse- it's actually hard to destroy them but he did- and I'm told that 750 sealed or tapered beaings may fit. ? Anybody know what the 750 part numbers or bearing numbers are?

All of the larger 70's Honda's used the same steering bearings. cb350, 400, 450, 500, 500t, 550, 650, 750, GL1000, CX500, all those and more.

I tried the All Balls bearings and had a problem with them on my CB350. The steering head tube bottom race was .002" smaller than the stock one and wouldn't snug tight. Solution: used a punch to put several dings inside the head tube. This created small flares that filled the gap.

I just wanted to get the numbers either for the Honda part or off the bearings themselves. anybody with a 750 know either the Honda part numbers or have a set with the numbers right on the bearing?

I believe that the stock OEM setup is with loose ball bearings. The ones they talk about above are for conversions to a ssealed system. Unless they changed it in later years, there is no Honda part number for these. Just 1/4" balls. Most of mine ar early 70's era.

I don't believe Hondas ever came with tapered roller bearings. I had my head bearings on my 98 Blackbird done and the stock ones were loose balls. I went to All Balls tapered bearings and they work much better.
