Stolen Ace

Hi Ace friends,

My pride and joy, my beautiful Ace 125 was stolen last night from Brunswick area, Melbourne. This is a long shot but I guess this is what communities are for, so if anyone encounters an Ace with the following VIN, drop a line here:

I'm sorry if this is not the right place to post this thread, kindly let me know if this is the case.

That's terrible. Ratbags. I can imagine how you must feel. We all have a lot invested in these bikes, and I don't mean just the money we sink in to them.

Was it standard? Perhaps post a pic to help fellow Australians keep an eye out for it?
 
That's extremely poor form by the thieves.

Jokes on them to a degree, bike ain't worth as much a they probably thought. Even though they look like a million dollars in my opinion.

Still it fucking hurts when your pride and joy is stolen. Hope you find it ASAP. Best of luck.

Thanks for the nice words everyone. Yes, it is quite a terrible feeling when you go to your car space and realize what had happened.

I will not forgive myself as I forgot to chain it properly last night. We moved into this townhouse block a month ago which has shared 'secure' car park at the back of the block. But the pedestrian entry for the block and the car space don't have locks. So I assume they climbed over the fence (or just walked in through the front gate) broke the steering lock and just rolled the bike back to the front gate (which means they passed in front of my front door, ballsy!).

I'm not too hopeful, but fingers crossed.

You think that's a shit feeling? I was headed to my flat one night and stopped at a red. A small car rocketed by the perpendicular road with a flashing police car in pursuit.

Shrug and go straight as I notice the chase is now parallel to me, through a car park and a drive-through. Stop at the next red and as it changes, I stay parked and wait. It's 1am, the road is vacant, and somehow I could see this chase heading back to the same intersection as I was waiting.

The car makes a left turn, it's now in my path. I wait for the cop to pass and drive on.

The car turns...it's the entrance to my flat. The car turns again, it's the entrance to MY car park. Out of more than 10, he heads into mine.

Turn the corner, and the red car has rolled into my work truck as the perp bailed.

Fucking Phoenix, I tell ya.
 
I wasn't myself the whole day, so my project manager (also a champion of a friend) helped me make some A4 posters and let me go home. I had the slightest hope that the fuckers couldn't start it or couldn't be bothered and abandoned it somewhere in the neighborhood so I took my bicycle for a ride. No luck though.

2b, thanks for the FB group link, just got my request approved and posted my status to the group page. And yes it is...erm...it was stock, other than some cheap bar end mirrors.

ChrisBNE, that's what I thought as well. They probably thought it was worth $10k or something. I wonder what they will do with it.

And Redliner, what a story bro! Glad you weren't inside the truck or around it loading/unloading stuff...

I guess shit does happen often.
 
Keep an eye on forums and CL. I've recovered enough stolen stuff on CL you wouldn't believe me, or rather you might not believe the people that post the stuff. Thank jesus for stupid thieves.

You can set automatic notifications for CL listings matching your criteria. Keep in mind they probably can't identify the thing so they would use a vague description.

Go into the market for a replacement and you might just happen upon your own ;)

That's how I got my MacBook Air back. I posted a wanted ad and the guy replied. When I met with him he was stupid enough (as expected) to not notice we were across from the police station. A few demeaning remarks and insults later, I walked away with my property and he carried on insulting and having a good long cry.

Who knows, in the end you might have a story of great justice and victory in time. Just remember rule number 1: thieves are thieves because they are LAZY!
