Suzuki GR650 - back to work...

Re: Suzuki GR650- sorting out the wiring.

So it sounds like they are temp sensetive and dumping all that current warms it up enough to release full current. Interesting but it makes sense....

Re: Suzuki GR650- more air box madness!

OK, so I've been working on this and finally want to post a pic of it. The finalized version of the air box (but it's not complete yet). It's ABS plastic all around (much easier to work with), has 2" speaker ports for velocity stacks (fit the carbs PERFECT), much cleaner looking, and had a larger volume than either box before.

Re: Suzuki GR650- more air box madness!

Speaking of internal volume: the original box was 3700 cc's, the first I made was 4100 cc's, and this one is 5100 cc's. Much larger than original.

Re: Suzuki GR650- more air box madness!

Rich, that looks really awesome. Cant wait to see what this does to the bikes power.

Re: Suzuki GR650- more air box madness!

Thanks fellas. Hopefully here in a couple days I can have it finished completely. The good thing about The GS500 filter (as I'm sure Ben can point out) is there are readily available drop in replacements. From stock, to Uni filters, and K&N. So I can always try a different one to get it more free flowing.

Stock,Uniflow, and K&N are the ones that I know of.I think Wix makes one but I am not 100% sure on that.Uniflow, flows a little better that stock,so does the K&N drop in filter with the restrictor.Remove the K&N restrictor and it's almost the same as a K&N lunchbox.Be aware of the restrictor. It can seriously affect flow.

Re: Suzuki GR650- more air box madness!

Thanks Pete! Just got it painted and mounted up today. I'll see about getting a couple pics if I get the chance.

Re: Suzuki GR650- more air box madness!

Hey that looks fantastic! Nice boost in internal volume too....can't hurt.

Re: Suzuki GR650- more air box madness!

Looking forward to the pic's Rich! Should work out nicely I reckon :)

Re: Suzuki GR650- more air box madness!

Sorry for the delay - been busy as heck lately. It's still black, but the paint evened out the color around the seams and also the plastic epoxy (which was a weird cream color). Still in the process of painting everything else......

And here's the throat of the filter (also still working on cleaning up the wiring).

Re: Suzuki GR650- more air box madness!

Good work Rich, that actually fits in well with the rest of the bike appearance wise too, doesn't look out of place or ugly :)

Can't wait to see her finished... again :D

Re: Suzuki GR650- more air box madness!

Ha! Me too buddy.

I should have some good progress over the next couple weeks though. I told a friend I've been busy with so many projects, I just haven't had time to update this one properly. So I am making progress, just not much time to share........

Re: Suzuki GR650- more air box madness!

Better to be getting stuff done and not posting progress than not getting stuff done because you're trying to post progress... right? :D

Re: Suzuki GR650- paint progress

No doubt - I love hanging around DTT, but I'll take dirty hands in the garage any day.

Speaking of progress, here's how the paint is coming along:

And the front fender:

Still needs some work, but I'm stoked at how it's coming along!

Re: Suzuki GR650- paint progress

Sweet! That's a nice red, different than the red from before?
