ShaggyPit

Been Around the Block
hey guys,

so quick question...my petcock seems to spin around but nothing seems to be loose in terms of being bolted up. it just spins within the bolt and Im not sure if this is normal or not...I feel like its not but it wasnt leaking prior to taking my bike apart. any info on this is appreciated.

i circled the part that is spinning to help explain this a bit

There should be a washer / gasket underneath the nut. You have to hold the tap in the correct position and then tighten the nut down to seal it (the tap will want to spin).

The tap shouldn't move after that. If it does, then the washer / gasket is either not there or worn down / needs replacing.

great thanks for the info!
i will check on this tonight
appreciate your help hillsy

tightening the bolt while keeping the tap in place worked as hillsy suggested..thankfully this means I didnt have to source out a new washer or gasket...this may be common sense for many, but for those who may encounter this problem as I have, its a quick and easy fix that can be done in a matter of seconds. just used a plumbing wrench and tightened while holding tank down. hope to pass on information ive learned from other to those who are in my position as I continue to learn and grow. ;D
