taking apart keihin carbs HELP

Been Around the Block
OK I'm a first timer and very unfamiliar with carbs. I bought this bike about 2 months ago and have been scavaging for parts ever since. Now its time to tear down the carbs.

I've got them off the bike but don't really know where to begin/how to tear them down in order to clean them. I have purchased new diaphragms as well as larger jets (105 mains and 108 mains because I wasn't sure which would be needed, and if I decide to run a different exhaust I'll have the larger jets) to be paired with my UNI pod filters Any threads, videos, advice, or walkthroughs would be appreciated

BTW its a keihin 747A carb (off of a 1975 Honda CL360)

Thank you.

You need to get all the brass bits out for cleaning and checking
There are a load of different threads on 360 carbs plus I posted a vid on synchronising them

I am running 4 inch long UNI foam Pods and a MAC 2 into 1 exhaust. I have stock jetting. Mixture is right on the mark, ever so slightly rich...

Don't change jets until you make the changes and check the plugs. I have 754a Carbs...105 is the stock main jet. Do you know what's in yours?

My stock main jet is a 100

You probably have 747A or 745B carbs which seem to be more common (although I have 2 sets of 754 carbs ;D )

Yeah, in the OP I had specified the carbs a 747A.

@Mydlyfkryzis- would 105 main jets be too much for the UNI pods on stock exhaust? I tried picking up some 102 but the shop near my house only had one 102 jet.

Do you have a link to the video you made showing how to sync the carbs?

I've done a forum search for CL360 carbs and mostly found For Sale threads

Since I have a different carburetor, I really couldn't say.

But what I am saying is that the STOCK setup, without any jetting changes, is working for me.

I have the 754A, so your carbs are different. The 100 stock may work....

After you get the UNI foam pods, see what happens. Do a plug chop and see if you are lean or rich.

Mine are like #8 or #9, which is slightly rich but good.

That was stock jetting and UNI 4 inch Foam Pods and MAC 2 into 1 exhaust.

So if I had richened up my carbs thinking the pods and exhaust would cause me to be lean, I would be TOO rich.

The real question I would have is, How is it running now? lean, rich or O.K.??

This way you will know what changes, if any, happen.

Too many people take a poor running engine, put exhaust and carbs on, then wonder why it is still poor running. They start fiddling with the carbs and trying to both fix he problem that existed before they made the changes, and compensate for the changes.

My recommendation is to get the bike tunes, carburetors synced, and engine running well before you perform any surgery. This way if it runs poorly afterwards, you know what changed. If it runs well after the changes, you are done.

Here is CrazyPJ washing his motorcycle off with sweat (The carb sync video, it was a hot day)http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=28876.msg310249#msg310249

I'll look, I think it's in either the 1-800 or video section
