So this XS850 tank that I have was modified by a PO to take a different style of petcock. They basically cut around the petcocks on each tank, and then welded the new petcocks along with a portion of the tank into the XS850 tank. This was all fine and dandy until I discovered that the petcock screens are essentially permanently installed in the tank. Meaning when I pour my POR-15 sealer into the tank, I don't know how I am going to keep it from clogging up the screens.
I can't really think of any option other than cutting around the screens to pull them out, seal the tank, then weld them back in?
Also, I used two entire bottles of the rust remover on the tank and it still looks like there is rust in it. This sounds weird, but I'm wondering if it's actually NOT rust, but the color of the original tank liner? I will take some pictures of the inside later to see what you guys think. It looks like rust, but literally NONE of it came off with the POR-15 rust remover, which has pretty good reviews.
