Hello all, I'm new here but been lurking for a while, so Hello!

I've got a question with mega high complexity lol

I live in Bulgaria and now that I'm trying to get my motorcycle license I have a problem. I still don't qualify for the large bikes and the category is as follows:

500-600cc's 25 to 35 kW and 38 to 48 HP

I've been looking for bikes that fit this category but I've found only a few; the older suzuki GS500s and the Virago 535 (i think)

Can you fellas help me locate other models and makes that fit into that category. ;D ;D

Why does it have to be a minimum of 500cc and 38 hp? Is this the way the licencing system works in bulgaria? Stages of increasingly powerful and bigger bikes?

Well basically its a medium category there are three here: A1 A2 and A.

A1 is a small bike to around 125cc's
A2 is the one I qualify now from 18 years of age till 24 and A is the maximum one for any bike you want after 24.

I am looking for a bike in this category because those are the requirements for a bike to learn on for the category.
After I get it I can drive whatever bike I want below the maximum requirements (legally that is)
Pretty messed up but I don't have a say on the matter

sounds very similar to the EU licencing categories. Most modern bikes above 500cc - 600cc are to powerful unless fitted with restrictor kits. Which why I presume your looking at older bikes. You'll still be looking at less than 500cc to meet the power output requirements as restrictors wont be available for older bikes. I cant think of any 70s early 80s bikes 500cc or under that have more than 48bhp.

Since this is DTT I'll suggest a few vintage bikes:
-CB500 four (48hp)
-CB500T (42hp)
-Suzuki T500 (surprisingly only 44hp, but I bet they feel quick)

For more modern bikes you're probably limited to single cylinder dual purpose machines or cruiser style twins.
My personal choice would be a Honda XR600R (46hp). A powerful, lightweight, go anywhere bike.
