The cafe racers choice for small turn signals?

Whats happenin?

Ive been faced with another choice and I figure Id ask the experienced crowd.

Ive seen a lot of you guys using the very small - bullet style turn signals on your bikes.

Where do these come from?!

Thanks!

John

the nicest ones ive seen have been from ebay and have an aluminum housing....

heres an example

Yep, those are the best looking small ones. Surprisingly I see them a lot at classic bike shows. Sometimes I point out to my friends "OOOOH I have those!" They have running light capability which is a nice plus!

I originally got mine from a website called BellaCorse, but you can find them cheap elsewhere and on eBay.

My only gripe: I dont know why but the amber lens on my front right signal keeps cracking. I have gone through 2 lenses so far, and my 3d is starting to get the spiderwebs again!

Just make sure to get the ones with aluminum housing. Some of them are plastic with a 'chrome-like' coating on them. Those ones are trash and not worth the effort...hell, they're not worth the shipping price!

These are those same signals on my XS650. I drilled out an existing mount on the frame and tapped it to match the stalks of the signals (10x1.25 or something).

Then I cut the stalks short so they wouldn't protrude. Shrink wrapped the wires right up through the stalk into the housing and voila.

The front signals are playing double duty as the headlight bucket bolts, as many people do. Don't have a good picture of the front end.

I have the chrome version of Tim's signals with clear lenses and amber lamps. Mine are wired as dual filament, so you could wire them up for running lights, too. (didn't work, battery was too strained due to other electrical issues) Here's the part that counts. Try and find a dual filament AMBER bulb. Very difficult to source cheaply, if at all. I highly recommnend that you factor that into your decision, and maybe go with amber or smoke lenses on your signals. Of course I can get the single filament amber bulb easily, so now that I'm running them as signal only, no problem. They are made well, and easy to install.

Soon soon - been saying that since April 2007 when I started it.

It will be on display at the Motorcycle Supershow Jan 15-16 though - we're getting a booth! A BIG one to display as many bikes as we can haul in there.
