Been Around the Block
I'm replacing the gasket set on my 350 and am looking for you all to help me find the best gasket solution. the cheap crap I put in originally when i first rebuilt my motor left me with leaks and was very disappointing. I used a gasket sealer on that set and read that DimeCity recommends to NEVER use anything on your gaskets. I also could not find any reviews on DimeCity's gasket set. so... what in your experience is the best set to use? gasket sealer or no gasket sealer? any tips tricks? what are your thoughts?

Lots of depends in there. Some gaskets do not need sealer. Some do....depends on the material and thickness. Many aftermarket gaskets do not meet spec, often thinner than stock. Some of the stock gaskets are material that essentially has it's own sealer built in. The heat and pressure of operation causes them to have a better seal. Others are just paper, and will not get a better seal over time.

A non-adhesive sealer, like the copper spray some use, on some, a light coating of grease or oil, will help most gaskets without problems. Adhesive type sealers will make it impossible to take apart later, so stay away from them.

I used to use sealers, now I tend to use anti-sieze compounds (Copper Spray, tube type anti-sieze)) so that the gaskets come off cleanly later.

The real important areas to seal, on Honda's, have no gasket at all. In those places, ThreeBond or HondaBond is the appropriate sealer to use.

As with all these products, very light coats are the most effective.
