They were saying cables are machined today I'm not sure they prob just didn't want to put together

Totally possible...mjpriceisright just went through this and he had to go to three or four shops before he got help.

They are not "machined". The nipples (aka end fittings) are made from solid solder - cast in place on the cable. For small quantity production, cables are still made the same way as they were when Bowden cables were invented in 1896. The principles are still the same. Talk about old school and they are still being made for every production motorcycle, more or less the same way.

i make up all the cables for my carb kits in house to ensure that they are within tolerance and can be adjusted properly

i have never had one break

i wish we did not have to do them but between assembly errors and unreliable delivery times we have been doing them for years

i even have to make up the cable for the quad mikuni install on the goldwings what a treat

I've got to the point in my project to fit my vm30s ... But I'm just diving in, and if I screw it up, I'll try again.

I just haul my junk to Fletcher's in Memphis. Best bike shop in a several state radius, the windows are full of race trophies to prove it. Even the stealerships send any real work to him instead of doing it in house, gets done right the first time. Some things just aren't worth the headaches or the time to me. I can make cables, but not real fond of doing so.

Also, turn steering lock to lock to make sure you don't cut cables too short.
Nice sweeping curves rather than tight bends give smoother action
I use bicycle brake cables to make throttle cables, you can get the outer sheath in all sorts of colours ;D 8)
