Throttle cable

Wondering if there is a way to alter a cable to fit this throttle housing I got from dime city. Throttle cable is a cb175 ,2 in 1 connecting to mikuni vm30 on a cb350.

Can you not take the fitting out of the throttle housing and then just install the cable and use the fitting on it to screw into the housing?

Have you ever altered or shortened a cable before?? You will need a new barrel end for the cable because the one thats on there will just melt........basically cutoff the barrel, remove the 90 degree tube off the cable, cut cable to proper length, and the solder on a new barrel............and bobs your uncle

There is lots of info on shortening cables, which is what in essence you are doing, just not returning some hardware to the cable and then using what is on the throttle housing

Haha literally ran into this problem yesterday on my cb250. Same throttle housing as you, and probably even the same throttle cable.

Going to remove the ball end, remove the 90 bend tube and then fix in to the supplied housing, and solder on a end.

That, or put a new throttle housing from an existing honda (one that doesn't include the switch gear)....I was looking at one from a VTR firestorm.

You should also put a housing end ferrule to your shortened cable housing to prevent the cable from binding to housing. You can find these from your local bicycle shop.

I've been using universal type throttle cables. Only issue I've had is that solder doesn't want to stick to stainless steel.

use muriatic acid as a flux to clean the cable and the solder will stick

No access to getting soldiered and no one in my whole area knows anything about soldiering cables no old time bike shops I'm screwed :( no riding this weekend
