Throttle/clutch cables help

I have a mongrel bike, part pedigree, part ragged mutt from down the road. Therefore I'm not 100% sure what throttle and clutch cables I should buy.

Bike: Honda CB400F '76
Handlebars: clipons
Clutch lever: Yamaha R1
Throttle tube: Yamaha R1

I am keeping the push pull cables on the throttle/carbs and wanted to know what to buy to get it all working. Can I buy stock cables for the 400F or will the R1 components and clipons bugger things up?

Happy to get custom ones if needed, but no idea where to start if that was required.

I assume I need to account for the following:

1. CB400F ends for all cables
2. R1 starts for all cables
3. Appropriate length for the lower position of clipons

Thanks in advance "An idiot down under!"

I made up a set of push / pull cables on my XT500 using bicycle brake cables. Bought 2 of them (from Kmart at the time) and used the XT ends / bends with the bicycle sheaths / cables. Shortened the cables to suit and soldered on some ends (made them out of some rod that I drilled and cut to size).

You're on the right track with using the CB carb side and R1 throttle side cable ends - you just need some sheathing and cable.
