Throttle/Idle Issue

CB200.. installed bore-tech ignition and dynatech coil.. rebuild carbs.. bike fires first kick and goes straight to 4-5k rpm. Came to the conclusion that it has to be either a throttle cable or carb issue. The throttle cable that I had a small kink in it and it was an aftermarket cable, which sometimes can be the wrong lengths.. I just bought an original throttle cable in good condition, havent put it on yet... Just thought I would bounce this off of the Jedi Masters to see if Im trouble-shooting this on the right road... Thanks guys.

There's an easy way to tell if it's a throttle issue. Look where it connects to the carb, is the cable itself tight? Can you push the pulley down at all? If you said yes then it may be a throttle cable issue. Try just disconnecting it and starting the bike without it. If it still revs way up then you have a carb issue. If not then you found your problem. My guess though is that since you just rebuilt the carbs, you might have forgotten something in putting them back together.

Yeah, that is what I was afraid of. I will try starting the bike without the throttle cables connected to the carbs tomorrow. Like you said, that should give me some direction, thanks.

good luck, been there too many times myself. with little things in life in general, not just carbs lol.

yeah, I hear ya man.. its so damn frustrating.. .to have something so small stopping my build from being finished lol.. thanks again bro

If you retard the timing on the ignition by rotating the plate does it affect the idle?
I've got a pertronics that will do the same if its misadjusted...

It effects the idle if you change the timing enough.
The ignition wasnt my issue though, it was an air-leak in the seal between my intake and the head.. easy fix.
