Throttle problems with new handle bars

So i replaced the handle bars on my 72cb450 with some cafe racers bars that are bent at 90 degrees. So when i set up the throttle assembly it has way to much tension on the throttle cable. I have the throttle adjustment to give me the max amount of slack. The cable is bunched together a little tighter because the assembly sits closer to the frame then the original stock setup. But could that really cause all of the problems?

Could be a couple things - is the cable being pinched anywhere (like between the tank and frame)? If the bend is too extreme, that could do it too.

Does the throttle snap back after you release it, or tight both ways?

Yeah 2nd that notion. Im runnin clubman bars and with the original routing of my cables, my throttle was baisicly unuseable. i just ran them out and around in the most gradual curves possible and everythings silky smooth now. I might even go as far as to say the throttle is smoother and snaps back faster then when i bought it and the re-rout is the only thing ive done that would effect it.

throttle cables are easier to rout than clutch cables!! I have had problems with them,,,,,solution is to cut back the cable housing and shorten the cable and soldier a new end to the cable......good luck
