Having trouble getting my timing set on my 1975 cb125s. Replaced the points and condensor and although everything works it just seems to not be quite correct. My other problem is that I bought a timing light with an "advance timing dial" on the back of it to try and time it "correctly," and I'm not 100% sure I understand it yet. There are some mods to the bike and so I would like to advance the timing to try and get a little more out of it, also to try and correct some problems I'm having at high speeds (which I havent decided if it's carb or ignition yet). The manual says to hook up the timing light and adjust till the "F" lines up with the notch. With the timing light I have, if I set the dial to zero, and adjust the timing it doesn't run so well. However, if I set the dial to about 10 degrees and adjust the timing it runs pretty good. Does anyone know how many degrees it should be advanced?
Also, its been a while since I dealt with points and I believe I have the gap set correctly (about 0.35mm), but I'm getting some sparking on the contact breaker. They are small, faint sparks but consitant. Is this normal, or should I set my gap again?
