Hi there so I've been working on a cl175 and Im reassembling the forks. everything looks great and I have them through the triples and everything. I have one tube nice and tidy screwed in nicely, the other screw won't even begin going in. I did have to put a small rod to tap the inside of the tube so has that maybe messed up the threading??

Are you talking about the cap that threads into the top of the tube? If you have the top triple clamp screw tightened around the tube, that is likely the problem. Mostly guys suffer trouble removing the cap, because they don't realize that the triple clamp is squeezing the cap inside the tube. Seen several caps totally destroyed because of this simple oversight. Loosen the clamp bolt, and the cap usually screws right out easily! Maybe you have this problem in reverse?

And try the cap without the spring in just to see without the added hassle of fighting the spring while trying to get it started.
