Coast to Coast
so i moved to a new place a month ago. i havent had a bed. my couch is a shitty futon, and i cant sleep on the futon unless i love big metal bars poking through my back. so ive been sleeping on the floor for a month. no matress, no sleeping back. just straight floor with a blanket.

theres a place called american freight about 30 miles away with cheap furniture. i got there today and bought a black leather couch and a bed, with SAME DAY DELIVERY. well they said theyd call before they came to deliver, anddddd THEY NEVER CALLED.

well, i need to take my girlfriend home, so on the way at around where downtown detroit is MY CAR DIES. i pull over, it wont start AT ALL. so i pay $100 for towing. my gfs dad comes, takes me home and then goes home with her.

do i need a new car? of course its the day i spend a buttload on furniture, as well as pay my rent, AND $100 tow.

thing is, i never got a call from the delivery guys. it was gonna cost me $85 when they delivered, and if they called and i didnt answer, id have to pay the delivery fee twice. BUT, i tried calling my friend james when my car died, then texted him saying "call me dude its important"

i finally got ahold of him and he said he tried calling me three times, but i never got a call from him.

so did these guys try calling me but i never got the call? so im gonna end up paying this $85 twice?

Could be worse man. It sucks, but it could be a lot worse.

Back in my futon days, I stuffed a shitload of madazines under that pad and even layed down like 5 blankets on top of that.

Money is just money.

I have to admit that I still sleep on a futon (and alternately on a floor when I'm out of town for work). Someone upthread mentioned magazines, I use an old sheet of plywood. Doesn't have to be thick or pretty or anything, just grab one from a construction dumpster and cut it to approximate size of the futon frame.

I hope you get a bed soon, but I've been making do with a futon this way for about six years now and I'm actually starting to like it.

Anyhow, hang in there. It's warm(ish) this week in Michigan so riding season is just around the corner.
 
Sorry to hear that Mike. You should immediatly go out and buy a bottle of rot-gut whiskey. Problems are never as bad when you cant remember them. ;) I bet if ya did some hustlin" you could find a good mechanic to fix your ride up in exchange for tattoo work. At least to fix it up at a big discount.
 
Im sure some of you are aware with the current situation with the wifes brother... She was leaving to visit him yesterday and her 02 Malibu (POS) went for a crap. There are four codes, Engine mis fire, oil pressure switch? EGS I think and one more. The heater died last year, the tempeture guage is fucked and so on...

I was looking in to getting a '10 Challenger RT in about 8 months... Dont know whats going to happen but its like watching my affordable dream car drive off in the distance.

At least I have a bed and couch...

I'l have a wiskey for you tonight.
 
If your phone did not work, call your phone company and demand a credit in the amount that you are charged for not answering the phone. At least you will recoup some of the money.

Sure hope things turn around real soon for you mike! I hate to hear about your day like this! I thought mine was going kinda shity, then I read this, and was like, Dude, I am not having a bad day AT ALL! Keep your head up bro and keep dishing out kindness and positiveness! It wil come back to you 3 fold!
 
Mike, I forgot to add it earlier - if you get the car back at your place, I'm sure everybody here could help diagnose/fix whatever the problem is.
