What do a lot of people want?

FYI - Sargent Cycle will take your stock seat and make it into a solo seat with a bump for $90 it would seem.

Maybe Roc City should get into the upholstery business....

that's a good point. If someone can just make a cover for a modified stock seat pan or this one....

(say around the $100 range) we'd be in business.
I could just add some foam and assemble it all myself....

Actually it wouldn't be that hard for one that knows anything about upholstering . Grab one of those seat pans , foam to cover the seat and cutting vinyl to fit to the seat .
But if you can get a hold of an already disassembled Guilari ..... ( Leon maybe??? ) ............One can cut the right size portions to produce some . LocoLeon , maybe you can sent him your one seat and he can make you a few in exchange for the old seat . Might help set him off into making the seats . A good mutual business transaction.........

What a lot of folks do, and it is in the tradition of 'less is more', is simply apply adhesive closed cell foam to a painted fibreglass seat pan. It's what racers do, and can be quite comfortable.

You can get a 1x2 foot sheet of foam from Pat for $10

http://dotheton.com/index.php?topic=5638.0

It's self-adhesive and a full inch thick. It cuts very nicely on a bandsaw - perfectly clean in my experience and it stays that way. It's solid black. You just cut out the shape you want, peel off the backing and stick it to your seat pan. No vinyl needed, and it looks awesome.

So a painted fibreglass seatpan and $10 worth of foam, and you're in business.

What measurements do you need for the kz650 SR seat. Keep in mind that these will be different from the other KZ650's. Flyscreens would be a cool addition. Make it for a 7" light, and it will fit most UJM's.

i'd need width at the tank, width at the widest point (and how far from the tank to the widest point), and total length, and width at the end of the frame, and also if the frame is straight or stepped

i like the duckbill style rear. im also going to attempt a front fender out of gLass and was even thinking of doing a headlight bucket with integral gauges like the older CBs. just some ideas for ya

a tank similar to the cb200t but a bit larger so it can fit more popular bikes. I just love the squareness of the tank.

Whats more, you could build a seat like the one below to match it!

.f

For the cb360 frame?? Hint hint, nudge, nudge! ;D

I like this idea......lots of us want to lower the gauges on our CBs by putting them in the bucket and don't want to refurb a Superhawk bucket.

+1 on this. But only if you can make it cost less than $100.
And a few suggestions...
Make it to use a standard headlight H4 bulb instead of a sealed beam.
It would also be nice to have the option to cut our own hole for the gauge since I may use an aftermarket digital speedo/tach combo for my project.

I think making gas tanks is too risky and time envolved. Some people have already had problems with the Benji tanks and those are held very high when quality is in question. Also, you'll never get EVERYBODY to agree on a tank style. Some like it longer, some like it fatter (heheh) and some like with knee dents and some without some want flip caps and some want aircraft style.
I think with the headlight bucket, you can come up with a compromise that most of us could agree upon.
AND...
If the headlight bucket sells well...you can start making one that also integrates into the fork covers, like you see on a Royal Enfield.
like this...cuz I like 'em...

Other than that, I'd really like a carbon fiber air box that covers pod style air filter....that is...if you're granting wishes an all....

Roccitycafe,,
If you were able to make a Cafe/street half fairing like the one that is seen in this link (DUCSSS1S
Ducati singles cafe half fairing - 900SS style street) : http://www.airtech-streamlining.com/vintage/vintagefairingshalf.htm
I would def buy one if you could make it for less than those guys!
It would need to have the lexan windsheild though too!

Did we ever hear anything back on sidecovers? Cuz if ya sold stock repro sidecovers for cbs you'd be able to expand your sales beyond the cafe community and into resto nuts and people with cracked sidecovers everywhere!

I did look into the side covers, problem is that different years had different styles (750's at least) and for what people pay for them on egay, I'd never pay back the $150 in silicone rubber I'd need for the molds :( once again business wins over coolness... ugh

front fairings... something that flows more wiht the bikes not so vintage... more like what you see on the SOA harleys... i would love that on my cafe!
