What do I use to coat the stator winding?

Well folks, after many pointless web searches I can't seem to come up with a good answer. I bought a new stator but there is a chip in the coating covering the stator winding, exposing the wires. This is probably why the yellow leads are grounding. Do any of you know what the best product is to use to cover this chip? I've read enamel, epoxy, polyurethane, shellac...
Thanks

ive always used epoxy when ive made stators/ small motors. granted, they werent for a motorcycle, but the same idea applies and im sure its oil resistant.

Ok, great. High heat epoxy. This is pretty easily sourced? Any particular brands to get or avoid?
Jay_kent, what do you mean about making sure the wires aren't touching each other? Here is a pic of my stator. The exposed area is where there was a zip tie that had to be removed in order to fit the stator in the cover (tight).

as far as I know you should have continuity, but see how some of the wires the copper is showing through. The coating on the wire is gone and if there is contact between wires continuity is gone.

And if this is new I'd be taking it back.
