Bradj, I can't really tell what you are and are not looking for. Could you post some pictures of what you do want, and what you don't want? And please, for the love of all things good and true, use at least periods. I can barely understand (honestly, i'm not sure if I understood it correctly or not) what you said.

I read it a couple times - what he's looking for is:

A good, working master cylinder that will drive a dual-disc setup on a Honda CB500. He does not want an old Goldwing or other old MC that will require a lot of rebuilding (I presume a perfect one would be acceptable) - he'd rather have a more modern good working master cylinder, but one that doesn't look like a super-modern unit.

You can buy brand new ones from www.mikesxs.net

Go about mid-way down the page and you'll find something called Early Dual Disc Master Cylinder. Would probably be perfect for you. Looks just like an old Honda master cylinder but is brand new and has a big 22mm bore for dual-disc setups.

I may have got the ninja master cylender to work tonight, or at least work better. I ll check out the link you gave me just in case, thanks Tim.

22mm sound way too big for honda. Standard single for single disc is 14mm and for dual 16mm.

http://www.vintagebrake.com/mastercylinder.htm after seeing this and some discussion on sohc4.net forums, I bought a modern 14mm nissin master and the leverage seems to be enough for dual discs, but I haven't had possibility to test it in "live" situation.

What would be the harm in using too big a m/c? I get not having enough hydraulic pressure for dual discs with a smaller one, but can you have too much? I've never really done much reading or thinking about this so I'm kinda curious.

The bigger the master cylinder is the more you need force and the lever feels too stiff. With too small master cylinder you run out of travel.
