Hello all!
I am currently in the process of restoring a 1978 Honda CB125S. I have rebuilt the engine. I am now looking for a new carburetor for my bike (my stock one was shot), after looking online i have found various sources saying that the Keihin carb is crap. I was wondering what is the best carb for a CB125S I.E Mikuni and what i would need to install it (Flange). also is the CB125s the same as the CB125 if not what are the differences.

Thanks,
Ben

P.S. if you can you give me a model number so I can ebay it thx.

A Mikuni VM24 would be a good bet. The jetting from the factory isn't likely to be what you need, though, so you'll definitely end up spending some time tuning it.

Nice suggestion but he is looking to stay away from the stock style carb.

How was your stock carb 'shot'? I hear this a lot and it is rarely the case. Most of the time they mean its dirty and they dont wanna clean it. Just curious.

The stock carb had a hole in it. The stock carb also had a thick layer of white corundum all over it. Corundum is a major pain to scrub off. Also after further research I have heard nothing but good reviews for the mikuni vm22 26mm carb. What is the difference between the vm22 and the vm24?

the 24 is 2 mm bigger but what sonreier failed to tell you is that it will not fit the stock boot from the air box because the rear of the carb is around 10 mm bigger than the stock one if i remember correctly.
