Would, could, should this battery work...

Some might think this is ghetto but...
I have Verizon for my internet and TV service and I recently had to replace the battery in the emergency module. Verizon swore up and down that the battery was just replaced right before I moved in but I made them send out a new one anyhow. The backup system uses a 12-Volt 7.2Ah SLA (Sealed Lead Acid) battery. You can type <-- in to an image search to see what it looks like.

Anyhow, I need a new battery. Could I use this guy as a temporary battery until I get a new one? Could this one suffice as a good battery for my KZ440? I tested it and it seems to still have a good charge. I plan to throw it on a trickle charge to see what happens. I don't possess a lot of knowledge about electrical so if anyone has any info or warnings about this please let me know.

If you use kickstart only it would suffice but if you used electric start you need something much bigger.

It will work as a battery for running the bike, but not starting it. Not enough peak amperage to turn over the starter motor, but everything else will be A OK.

Thanks for the input. I will probably just use it to test out my wiring/lights, etc. then.
 
i have exactly the same battery (panasonic) for my bmw r80 and it starts without any problems.

I figured it would work but that's pretty impressive for that little guy. Do you have to charge it daily?
 
charge? no. its been installed for a month and i ride around daily. so far i had no problems running out of juice
 
i guess 7amps will be enough to start a 440, but not for long and you will kill the battery as you'll suck it completely empty.

Dont quote that.

7aH is a fairly low battery but if the bike starts easily then it will be fine. And if your charging system is up to par should be no issues.
