WTB: Bike to cafe or one that has already been done

I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself first. I live in Atlanta, GA. I had my cbr 954rr stolen from me and have had to sell my car due to having to pay for bills and rent. Now I'm stuck with a POS Civic and not a day has gone by that I miss my baby.

So thats what brought me to this awesome site. I have been lurking for a while and decided that I want to either build or buy a cafe racer. I have had pretty much every type of bike besides a cafe. I do realize that everyone has their own style and buying a bike that's already cafe'd probably wont fit my taste. I'm OK with that.
So I'm looking to buy something around 1500 if that's possible. My main concern is I want it to run top notch(as it can). I don't know much about carbs but I'm reading about to try and see if I can tinker on something a little bit. Also in Georgia you are not required to have a title to register a bike, so if your bike does'nt have one that it's not too much of a problem.
I was looking into getting a cb/cl, xs, gs, cx. I have been on some fast bikes so I dont think I wanna go any lower than a 360cc. I'm willing to travel about 6 hours out of georgia if I find the right bike. I looked on craigslist and the people in atlanta don't seem to be in the cafe scene too much.

thanks for looking.

Hell yeah! Thanks alot man. That should get me started. I guess I'm just afraid of biting off more than I can chew. I dont know much about these old bikes and I would much rather buy one that some guy did most of the motor work. I had a 83 gs300(I think it was a gs) and a yamaha 1000cc + bike. I can't remember what model it was.
This was it.

The thing was a beast and a half. Tons of torque but didnt go high speeds

If I could get a couple more bikes to look at I would be set in getting the ball rolling.
