So originally planning to start this thing after I moved, I finally broke down and started stripping the thing. Only moving a couple blocks over, I figured stripping it will make it lighter to roll down the street.

So I bought this bike for $600 from a friends grandfather who was moving to Holland, engine was recently rebuilt and maintained very well with 17k miles on it.

Yes on the switches. I was going to make myself a pair of switches almost exactly like that out of aluminum, but if I can save some time and money (Al stock isn't remarkably cheap these days, and the Zero Engineering guys are offering similar switches for $50 each) then I'll roll with these. Do tell where you picked them up!
 
If you decide not to use the front fender let me know - I might be able to make use of it on my project.

Here is the link to Zero's. they are a little closer to home. I am thinking about grabbing two so i can get rid of my kill switch and starter button as well. Not sure how yet, looks like they are building them into 1" bars.

Thanks for the link to the Posh site! Looks like the price for theirs is just a little less than the Zero switches ($58 usd) at 5,000 yen each, but then you have to consider the shipping costs. They are smaller though, 1.6 in long (41mm) compared to 2 in long (51mm), and you have a choice of turn switches which will let you keep an auto-cancelling unit with their momentary switch. Food for thought, though...thanks. I may end up just making my own since the price is as high as it is.

Also, I contacted the Zero Eng guys a while ago, and they said their switches are for 7/8" bars.
 
just talked to my dad about these... he said that they used to make thier own on choppers, just cut off a small piece of a 7/8 or 1 in bar (cut them in 1/2 and then shave them down a bit), drill out and mount your switches you need. then drill 2 small holes in the end of the bar piece, and rivit that on to the handle bars... CHEAP and looks/ works awesome... he said that he can not belive i have never heard of that... but it make sense
i bet it would be super easy!
 
I saw the switches at knucklebusterinc and had my sisters design friends make em for me. They look pretty good, I'll make sure to document how I'm going about it. I saw some nice switches this weekend at harbor freight. yup.

So far I've just been cleaning the carbs out to store them until I need to rebuild em.

Nice bike. I think maybe when I get bored of my XS650 cafe I'll buy some fat firestones, a different tank and seat, rear fender and headlight, and it will look just like that.

I can machine the bases for your switches if need be though really for $60 they aren't bad.
 
tank is photoshoped and so is most of the other parts brakes seat ect looks nice tho i would say a closer real tank to that would be a Suzuki t500 tankish :-\
 
yeah, there where three tanks they photoshopped onto the frame, regardless, I need an ID on the tank. I love the lines on that bike.
 
If it's Deus, it's custom. That's my next step for my bike-build my own tank. You can bolt on all kinds of cool stuff, but build your own tank and people can't say sh*t.
