Hey All,

So picked this up off of ebay here in the UK. Could tell the guy was upset to let her go, once he had the cash in his hand he sloped off leaving me to dismantle it in the sunshine to get her in my car.

Your gonna have to bear with me, I am no bike expert, I know nothing about these XS650 engines and time and money are tight but here we go.......

How the bike was advertised:

The frame is a custom made Norton Featherbed replica of sorts with Yoshi Replica rearsets:

The engine is an XS650 with engine number starting 4M4 which makes it an '81 model I think. It came with a kick start (which looks like it needs a service as it doesn't stay back) and a set of great condition carbs:

There is no starter motor, starter plate or carb rubbers.

The front end is Yamaha diversion and needs a front caliper. Not sure if top yoke is a standard item:

and dont know if the clipons were bought off the shelf or made:

Rear end is XS650 swingarm(?):

XS650 shocks(?):

and a matching diversion rear wheel.

And the bodywork is a custom made seat pan:

With a chopped up Honda (?) tank with cap and key and fuel tap:

Also included were coils, front and rear metal mudguards, Headlight and brackets some fuel lines and a complete brembo rear master cylinder but the mounting holes are too wide to fit to the rearsets.

So there you are the start of my project.......................Let the fun begin!!

Also I have a bunch of parts already (saved from previous projects) that I am hoping to get some use out of on this project.
These include:

*GSXR front radial master cylinder with billet brake fluid reservoir
*Brand New Goodridge braided brake lines front and rear
*Billet Rear brake reservoir
*2 Carbon look with LED Aircraft style arming switches
*An LED Push to start engine button
*Billet handlebar mounted button
*Quick action throttle
*Gel Battery
*LED Number Plate light

and a couple of other little bits and pieces. Will get some pics of the above up soon.

Swing arm and shocks are both from a 650. Your kickstart not returning is likely how it was reassembled at one point. There is a step by step to get the return spring loaded properly, if it's just hanging at half mast then it might just need proper reassembly. Looks like a great start!

Cheers for the info, will have a look at the side stand to see what's stopping it returning.
Got to get the engine down off the bench to give it a look over to see what's missing and what I need to get it running.
So far I have on my list:
~ starter plate with gears
~ starter motor
~ carb rubbers
~ loom with a cdi
I already have a battery, coils and boots but will get new spark plugs.

Am I right in thinking I can leave the starter motor plate and starter motor off that list if I just go for kickstart only?? Obviously will need a blank to cover the holes left.
Anyone think of anything else I need? or the best way of getting it going just so I can see that it works?

Cheers for any info.
