Yamaha LS2 Tire Sizing Help

Hello all,

I'm looking for some help picking out tires for my 1972 Yamaha LS2. The rear tire says its a 2.74x18 which I'm pretty sure is an 80/90 in metric. My question is, how big can I/should I go when buying new tires? I was thinking a 100/90 in the back and a 90/90 in the front OR a 90/90 in the rear and an 80/90 in the front. Does anyone know if this either won't fit or if it will look dreadful with larger tires? Also, where do you lot buy your tires? I'm just looking for a run of the mill cruising tire, nothing fancy.
 
The rims are too narrow.
If your re-building wheels with WM3 rims, your sizing will be good.
As is, 80/90 front and 90/90 rear is about as big as you can go.
You probably have a 1.60x18 front and a 1.85x18 rear rim, should be stamped on it somewhere, near spoke heads
You can probably get 'inch' size tyres if your not looking for anything fancy, 1/4"larger than stock is usually OK
 
Thanks for the help, PJ. Both of the rims show 140x18 on them. The rear tire says 1.75-18 on it and the front says 1.5-18.

I know I have tubed tires but my question is: can I throw a tube in a tubeless tire and call it a day or am I looking for a specific tubed tire? I seem to be having a lot of trouble finding not only a tubed tire in my bike's size but also one that isn't a motocross tire.
 
That converter was much better than the ones I found, thanks. Good call on looking for moped/scooter tires. I didn't want to go so cheap as to be buying a brand I've never heard of before, I found some Michelin scooter tires that I think will fit. I might have to take my front fender off but that's fine by me.

Michelin Gazelles (the first size option, 2.75-18) Does it matter that they're tubeless?

Nope, just be sure to get new tubes ( and probably rim strip would also be a good idea)
