Yamaha XJ650 Electrical Help Please.

Hey Guys, I am now almost finished rebuilding my 83' Yamaha XJ650 and I've been testing it using a Car Battery. But sooner or later i have to buy a new battery so I was wondering what unit of Ampere did the stock battery had on this bike since there was no battery when i got the bike.
And also, I was wondering if anyone could explain me how to start the bike without the instrument cluster. The bike doesnt start when i disconnect the cluster.

For starting, you need to make sure both red/white wires going to the solenoid have power. Generally, one will have power as soon as the ignition comes on. The other will only have power if the clutch is in and/or the bike is in neutral. The coils get power from the ignitor unit, which should have power so long as the kill switch is set to 'run'.
 
Hey Guys, thanks a lot. I went down to a motorcycle store and bought a 14Ah one. I was hoping to get a 16Ah one not knowing it was not necessary and also it was soooooo huge than the 14Ah one. Sorry for the late reply though.
@Sonreir : I'll try to do it as soon as i get over sorting with other cables and also putting up a new fuse box. Thanks for the help man.
