I still need to add a few gussets but at least everything is tacked together.
I also got the steering staiblizer bracket and brace welded on.

I might have a rolling chassis by May but I still need steering stops welded to the lower triple clamp and the meter bracket welded to the top triple clamp.

Trust me I don't have a machine shop. I did all that with a 4" angle grinder, 6" bench grinder, 1/3HP drill press, a hacksaw and files. Oh and a Hobart Handler 125 with flux-core wire to tack it together.

What do you think of the Tarrozi's in particular the fact the footpegs rotate with the levers? ??? Nice work BTW. ;)

I don't think the pegs rotate with the levers. I have a set myself, but haven't installed them yet, but I'm pretty sure the peg is stationary.

This is my second set of Tarrozzi's and the pegs are stationary on both sets. Only the levers rotate.

I just recieved received a set a couple of days ago...Fast from the Past ordered them from the factory as he didn't have them in stock so they are a new unit. These are the aluminum fixed peg units. The pegs rotate with the levers....they have a locating pin that fixes the lever to the connecting rod ( linkage) ear which than fits into a notch in the footpeg. The peg bolt is stationary but the peg, lever and linkage ear turn as one unit. I've seen some wierd Italian engineering in my day but this is strange. I'll email Jim and see what the deal is. Thanks for the feedback.

Just received an email from Jim. Yes...the footpegs are supposed to rotate. He said he has 2 pair he uses for Vintage Racing and they feel very smooth with that arrangement. First time I've seen it in 35 years.

I got the meter bracket welded to the top triple. As you can see I did a little something special with where the ignition switch normally goes.

So I have a few pics.

A little more progress.
I traded the stock rear rim for some R1 passenger pegs.

I also found a new use for old head nuts although I don't know if I'm too thrilled about the final product. Please let me know what you think as I can always grind them off.

Little by little....

When I bought the GS headlight someone drilled a hole in it, probably for a switch....
DSCN2014.jpg

So I found some sheet metal (in the form of an old Blazer gas tank I've had laying around for a couple years.)

About 5 rounds of tack welding and passes with the flap wheel ended up with this...

I wanted to get the light as tucked in as I much as I felt was possibly but because of the layout of my dash and shiftlight, the bucket now needed a little cutout for the bottom of the shiftlight. So out can the cutting wheel and files...

With the headlight able to be tucked in close to the dash and above the steering damper headlight brackets were in order. I borrowed the idea from Kawasaki itself. Some of the later LTDs had similar headlight mounts although they were a little more complex. I used some spacers I had laying around and picked up some 1/4" steel rod from the local lumber store and got to work. Making the first bracket was hard enough without a bender of any sort. Try making an exact mirror image not easy to do.....
