Yesterday I picked up a complete Yamaha Xs400 for $100. Got her home and just for shits and giggles threw a little gas in the tank and it tried to sputter to life in 2-3 second bursts. The lady picked this up for $50 a while back and I tore it down cause it needed new crank bearings. Put all new seals and bearings in her, cleaned the carb and tried to fire her up. All I get is a backfire either out of the carb or the exhaust. No flame but it coughs a blast of air and smoke...

So I figured out the igniter box on the Suzuki decided to crap out. No spark on the left side. Instead of searching for a replacement and paying top dollar I went the cheap (and so far better) route. I read about people replacing these boxes with GM Hei ignition modules used in the older cars...

Got some progress. Rolled the rear fender in and got rid of the monstrous taillight. Getting something sleeker soon. Clip ons, lowered the gauges and headlight. Got my side covers painted. And for grins and giggles threw the KE100 shocks on and damn she looks good. Much more comfortable riding...
