left the cover off the bike one night and it rained pretty good. The bike (71 cb175) idled fine beforehand now will die almost instantly if i let off the throttle. I know it could be a million and one things, but just wondering if anyone has any input. Its been about a week now since the rain so...
thanks, ill have to look into that. Ive got it wired up to a hidden toggle at the moment. Not my first choice but it gets it on the road until i can figure something out.
This is an original
this is what every other one i can find looks like.....
the mounting points are different, plus nothing to mount the light cluster too.
id rather just leave that switch there, plus it serves as a dummy switch.
I guess another option would be to eliminate the keyed ignition switch altogether and have some sort of hidden toggle somewhere.....
Heres the deal. Ive got a 76 cb500t with a broken ignition switch.
This particular ignition switch is next to impossible to find, as it has a fork lock on it as well. Originals are rare on ebay and go for 60+ with or without keys :-\
There are new units on ebay advertised to fit the cb500t...
all connections look ok (both controls and grey box wiring)
I notched the controls but still kept the tabs so i don't think grounding is the issue. I did take the harness out of the back of the ignition switch and I'm getting good power there. So my thinking is its the ignition switch itself.
ill have to check those two things out. I went over the wiring in the grey box under the tank and everything looked ok. Ill double check tonight. I did just install clubman bars and I'm hoping its the wiring in the kill switch like you said.
Tthe Problem is a 76 CB500t. Battery is good, fuses are good, but have no electricity. I turn the key to ON and nothing. Everything worked fine a few days ago. What would be the first thing to look at besides battery and fuses? My first guess would be the ignition switch.
Looking to upgrade my lighting, since i cant see anything at night with this weak headlamp. I cant seem to find much info on this subject. I want to keep a stock sealed beam look but with HID lamp. Anyone have any info? i can find plenty of HID conversion kits but not much on the lamp housing...
