I'm assuming your compression is good, have you checked your valve clearance lately? Or could you have a bad spring? Just throwing out guesses man, making sure all the boxes are checked.

What condition are your filters in? If they are partially restricted that could effect things as well.

Just speaking from experience man. Aluminum is really easy to damage with flame. Not saying he shouldn't use it, but to be very careful if he does. And with care the center punch shouldn't be hard to do, it's only 1/8" below the surface, normal for a broken off bolt, l've extracted plenty. Same...
Personally, l wouldn't get a torch of any kind near it except as a last resort. The whole mother is aluminum, and aluminum warps very easily. The first thing to do is mark the broken off stud with a center punch, before you ever start drilling. You may wish to very carefully smooth the surface...
In basic training my drill sergeant would tells us "you can't polish a turd" But yet still expect us to buff the barracks floor... It was crap, but shiny crap!

The one you bought looks just the one from SCI - same tight spacing and a plastic reserve tube. It also has a plastic sediment bowl screen, and that is the one l was talking about removing.
