    Thanks for the input and tips. My mechanic just ordered me a Yuasa.. he said I should look forward to purchasing one every year, Which at 40$ after tax isn't going to break me. battery will be in tomorrow or tuesday latest...back in the MINI

    So, the three batteries available at the local autoparts store all have bad reviews as far as lifetime. Could you recommend a good brand that I could order online? Thanks

    I do not have a multimeter. I agree and could undertsnad the battery is toast. Before me it sat, for years. Would the battery being fried also be a reason for the bike cutting out at idle? Thanks

    BTW the motorcycle is a 71' HONDA SL175 while i mention that? do the sparks need the battery to ignite or is it generated from the kick start? Sorry if all of this is super n00b questioning, I am still in the very beginning process of learning this. ALSO, one of the green caps on the top...
