I had the exact same issue with my xs500. Never really did solve it because it would always run awesome again after it sat for a few minutes, but very frustrating indeed.

Anybody know of a top triple tree that will swap over to a '82 cb900f fork set up, can't find what size they are, I assume they are 35mm but not certain. Any newer style sport bike triple clamps swap over?

Not sure if this will work in your case but when I did my bike I just picked up a kill switch for a dirt bike ($12) two wires, hooked her in and away we go. Mind you I rewired the whole thing and eliminated any un-necessary b\s so it was a piece of cake once I had it figured. Works like a charm
