Great work-congrats to your dad, that's got to be the coolest car I've seen in a long time!

The story of Emma and I

Great story! Must get to the Alps one day, preferably on a motorcycle...anyway, thanks for posting!

    Harley Davidson Cafe Racer?

Griff, that's an XR1200-a newish (past couple of years-orange was available through '09, I think) model that's supposed to look like the XR750, which is/was the classic Harley flat track bike starting back in the '70s. The XR1200 looks like a fun bike-I followed a guy on one for a while the...

1971 Triumph advertising film-Isle of Man TT

Here goes a bit of shameless self-promotion...I've recently started keeping a blog, writing about old motorcycles. My latest post (in honor of the TT), is about an advertising film made by Triumph c.1971. Here it is: http://ironhandcycles.blogspot.com/

SAD DAY:( 5 of my bikes stolen!

Sorry to hear it, joeficsit. Hope you can track them bikes down, or at least catch the bastard who took them...it's a long shot, but you never know...

    raped my paint job

I don't mean to discount what Kong said-automotive paint and clear coat or powdercoating being the way to go if you can afford it and want to do it right, but I used rustoleum on my tank and seat since I'm on a limited budget (i.e. broke), with decent results. It looks "5 foot good" (good...

1966 BSA A65 Lightning- "The Quickie"

Really like the tank, and the seat goes well with it. Nice work on a great bike!

    Honda CB125 Twin tracker

Nice tank, Pear! The faded green looks cool-the rust looks nasty, but that's fixable: put some gas (maybe half a gallon or less) and a handful of smallish hex nuts in there, put the cap on, and shake it around like a maraca for a while. It's a quick-and-dirty fix, but should clean it out well...

    Upstate NY

Hey Mortikan-I'll be at Rhinebeck, hopefully both days...dividing time between the AMCA show and the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome's opening weekend-we should definitely meet up!

    Beachcomber's Tales from the day

I can't quite blame him-getting towed behind another bike sounds like a hell of a ride. Also, great to hear I'm not the only one building bikes outside, without the benefit of a garage :) Looking forward to reading more when you get the chance!

    GP Shifting

I've been thinking about GP shift pattern with rearsets on my GS750 (it's got a gear position indicator, so hopefully not too hard to learn on), but it sounds like developing the wrong habits could be a bitch. Maybe not a great idea after all...

    Honda CB125 Twin tracker

That side cover looks great-I agree, the raw metal look is great. Good choice for the grips too-you don't see white handgrips around much, it's a cool touch.

    Upstate NY

Mortikan-I'm back, and the bike's on the road! Let me know if you're around New Paltz-incidentally, I know the winemaker at Glorie, and am working at the Mohonk Mountain House...small world...

    Beachcomber's Tales from the day

What a way to crash...guess that WOULD be a bit distracting! Just got flashed (by a car, not a girl) last night-may have to try the movable headlamp trick, especially since it sound like it can be very useful sometimes ;)
