I was thinking about doing a sight tube as well. Does anyone know if you use non-ethanol gas and then are forced to use ethanol gas because you are in an area where there is no non-ethanol stations, will it do any damage to the bike. Can you mix the two or would that not work?
So I have an update on my seat. Tonight I decided to build a frame that would fit on the inside of the seat for two reasons.
1.) I weigh 230lbs and dont trust the fiberglass to hold my butt without cracking, so I wanted to add some extra strength.
2.) It will give me some good mounting points...
Re: question about how much fiberglass to use (Pics of seat so far)
OK,
So I have finished the fiberglass part of the seat and have started trimming everything up to fit. I have included two pictures, the first is the way it sits now, the second is how I think it would look best, but I am open...
Re: question about how much fiberglass to use
I have never tried using fiberglass insulation, but I dont see why it wouldnt work. I believe (and I may be very wrong) that the fiberglass is what give it strength, and the resin is what holds it all together. I may be way off base here.
I was...
So I have shaped my first seat out of foam, taped it all up with masking tape and have already put on two layers of 1.5 oz CSM. So far it feels very sturdy and pretty stiff, also I have added an extra layer in the places that I feel should be extra sturdy. My question is should I start layering...
Re: '75 CB550 - the "Le Mans Special" - she lost 90 lbs on her diet
I know Im about 7 months late on this question but where did you get the triple clamp done at? Is it aluminum? Was is pretty expensive or reasonable? where did you get the measurements from for it to fit?
I like that better. I mocked up how I would like the sides to hang and the back to look. I think Im pretty pleased with it if it works out the way I want it to. I think I will also shave everything down just a little bit to make up for the added bulk of the Fiberglass.
So I am finally starting on my seat design and got some foam glued together and down to my basic shape. What I am having issues with is if the cowl is too big or not. Sometimes I look at it and it looks good but sometimes it just seems too big. I am looking for some constructive criticism. The...
So I have a 1978 CX500 and it has been running very well since I bought it. I recently put pod filters on, rejetted the carbs and changed the exhaust. Since those modifications it was running perfect for about 2 months, then about a week ago I got on to ride to school and it started running like...
I actually like this one. it gives the bike a bit more of a "fast" look, whereas #5 gives the bike a more "short and stocky" like a pit bull or something. I guess I just have to figure out what I am really going for. Thanks for the different variation, it definitely opened my eyes.

This is the issue with the CX500's is that the bottom line of the tank is not flat, it angles down from front to back making it difficult to create a nice line from the tank to the seat. This is why I am building my own instead of purchasing one. I eventually will build a tank too and when I do...
I have finally gotten to the point to start thinking about my seat. I have a 1978 honda CX500 and I have found a lot of these bikes that look terrible as a cafe racer, however the ones that are done properly look great (IMO). I have mocked up in photoshop 5 different styles that I like but I am...
Yeah, its a great place to ride. Im living in Orlando, FL right now but my wife and I are planning on coming back to Hendersonville in the next few years. I really miss that place
I love these images for two reasons.
1) the bike looks great and looks like a lot of fun to ride.
2) I grew up riding my pedal bike across that bridge. I grew up in Hendersonville and would ride down to Saluda quite a bit. There is a trail that runs from that parking lot over to Lake Summit and...
