    Ninja 250 carbs

At one point, I recall seeing folks running the Keihin CR series carbs. Not sure if they were offered as a "bolt-on" or not. You might call or email Sudco and see what they recommend. They will even help with starting jetting.

1976 KZ400, RESTORED, CLEAN, RUNS GREAT

Dropping the price to $2300 FIRM for anyone on Do The Ton. This is a killer price for a well sorted, well done bike!!

1976 KZ400, RESTORED, CLEAN, RUNS GREAT

No kidding, just too nice to cut up. Even with pod filters on the VM's, no frame "detabbing" has even been done. The guy that built this did everything very tastefully. Whoever buys it can do what they like, but am sure they will find they won't bugger with it.

1976 KZ400, RESTORED, CLEAN, RUNS GREAT

1976 Kawasaki KZ400, 5500 original miles, runs PERFECT. Has electric start, and also kicks over on the first or second kick. The bike has been very nicely rebuilt/restored with new House of Kolor metallic green on the tank (tank is SUPER straight), side covers and headlight housing. New bars...

    What plug are you using?

    VM30 tuning...

I have seen similar recommendations on the KZ400 forum for VM30's and bet that is about what Sudco will recommend. I have VM32's (I know, probably a bit big) that were on my KZ400 when I bought it, and they are jetted at 35 pilots (too rich, but don't foul plugs), 6DH7 needles (maybe a touch...

    VM30 tuning...

Have you asked Sudco what their recommendations are? Send an email to the general mailbox telling them you just purchased the carbs and need a baseline. On paper, it looks like you are wayyy lean, at least on the mains. Typically the mains will not foul plugs unless you are full throttle all...

    New Mufflers...

Let me know how these sound on the bike, and post a video clip if possible. I have considered these exact mufflers (or the upswept type) for replacements. How is the bike running now? Hoping you got to the bottom of most of the issues.

    DOT Turn signals

I guess there are two questions, and the answers to both depend on (generally) where you are in VA, and where/how you ride it. Northern VA tends to be MUCH more strict, and the more suburban areas (whether northern or not) are more stringent. That being said, find a shop, or a buddy at a shop...

    Holy Snap-Muffler fixed still bad

I would check the coil for resistance and also check the voltage at the coil with the ignition switch on...I think it is the white/red wire off memory. On the KZ400's, the coil wire runs through the stock handlebar switches, and after time, corrosion causes poor connection and reduced voltage...

    Holy Snap-Muffler fixed still bad

You got it...one thing at a time. It is hard, I know! You just want the thing running and want to ride! Seriously though, how is the interior of the tank? Check the vent in the gas cap too and make sure it is not clogged or stopped up at all. If air can't pass through it, the tank won't...

    Holy Snap-Muffler fixed still bad

There is an idle speed screw (on the side of the carb, parallel to the ground) and idle mixture screw (on the side of the carb but pointing down at the ground at an angle). Which adjustment have you made? Did you clean the tank completely? If it was idling well, and now it isnt, you really...

    Holy Snap-Muffler fixed still bad

What everyone is saying is good advice. While it was good to repair/replace the mufflers, I doubted that would be the fix. Also, since these are VM carbs, ditching the airbox probably won't cause big tuning issues like on CV carbs. "Bench Sync" the carbs first. Do this by simply making sure...

    Holy Snap-Muffler fixed still bad

Re: Holy Snap Crackle Pop! I am doubtful oil has anything to do with the sputtering problems, but since you asked, I would use a conventional (non-synthetic) motorcycle oil or even a cheap SM listed oil for older vehicles (more zinc). As far as the popping, have you changed/checked the...

    power to the coil

Correct...if kick only and you are not wiring up a headlight, any switch will work.
