I think I am just going to stay with the cb650 motor I have already got started on some different air box/ cleaner ideas for the carbs. Seems that the major issue with them is turbulent air flow so I need to use a venturi for the boot like to stock ones use. I also already have a rebuild kit for...
soon! pics will be on the way currently drawing things in solidworks. i still need to get some dimensions from the old frame to make things more concrete in shape
In all honesty this is exactly why I went this way, Because I spent so much time trying to figure out how to make this work.. and finally decided.. screw this i have all the tools to build a frame the way i want it so why not. Plus I needed the class for school so that is just a perk
Well I thought I should get this going with a build thread here. First I will start by saying part of this is a class project for a specialized lab I am taking. So most of the time I will spend will be solid works cad files and theory until I finish that this will all be basic Ideas and models...
That was my concern also. I am concerned about the design . I have been thinking of doing something along this route. But I am unsure of the stresses applied to the frame with a design like this .

Hey guys just saw this from kinetic motorcycles it's ment for all CB style bikes.. i just don't know if it's a sound conversion system or not. what are your thoughts?

To answer your question about the radiators. Most motorcycle motors of that era were air cooled. So technically the radiator is the motor itself. So your are correct that most cafe racers don't have radiators.

I am planning on building one myself . I have done some ss car exhaust with 90s and 45s. Was planning on going more of a gp style . Like the Dan Moto but with a cone end instead of the open end

Here is the only pic I have waiting to do a build thread till I get farther along . Currently it's apart because I am welding up the frame . Putting a hoop in and doing some gussets

Also, stainless work hardens . So the more you bend the harder and harder it will be. It might be worth to bring to a muffler shop and have them bend it for you. Or buy 90s and the cut and weld

Both the bikes will be great just get the 79 650 if you want that. The 750 ss sounds pretty nice . But it all depends on what you want. Most parts will fit both bikes. And I think they both suffer from most of the same issues. Such as the charging system . The 750 might and does have a wider...
I know that the cb650 is lighter and make jut slightly less power then the 750. But when looking at a 650 the only year people will tell you to get is a 79. This is because the 80 and up had a dip in the frame making the cafe look harder to accomplish . That doesn't mean it can't be done.
