Rewired, fresh battery, solenoid clicks but no crank

Well, I tried and failed. Resoldered it and snugged it up after reassembly and it broke again. This time a took a chunk of internal wire with it too. So my attempt to fix it failed AND it can't be rebuilt now. Are all DOHC starters the same? Cruising ebay and from the outside they do.

Tore it apart and layed it out on my bench. Looks like somebody torqued the hot post too hard and broke the connection on the inside. Bearing are good. Can it just be resoldered? I'll post picks when I get back home.

Rewired, fresh battery, solenoid clicks but no crank

Jumping solenoid posted resulting in sparks but to turn. Same with straight from battery to starter. Pulled the starter out and turned it by hand, it binds to the point where I had to use pliers to turn it. Reinstalled and ran it straight to the battery and it turned. Reinstalled starter gear...

Rewired, fresh battery, solenoid clicks but no crank

Its a 1982 CB750 Nighthawk. I used the "bare bones" wiring diagram for a Honda dohc that's floating around this site and others. The bike did run before I tore it apart a year ago. I relocated all electrical components into a fake oil tank from tc bros. It should be noted that 4 gauge wire was...

Got her all wired up using the "bare bones" model. I figured if I had problems getting everything to run it would be easier then having to deal with all the other accessory lighting too. Went ahead and put the starter solenoid into the fake electronics box, ran it with fresh 6 gauge wire. Threw...

I ended up running new cable to the electronics box. Everything fits in it fine. Just need to straighten out the wiring to make it look better, finish the exhaust baffle and oil and filter to fire it. Thoughts on tie downs to secure wiring to the frame?

Starter solenoid location on a rigid 82 CB750?

I think I'll extend the wiring, insulate it and throw it into the e box with the rest. I'm trying to re wire it myself and learn what I can along the way. You should know if I cant make it work I'll be putting in an order for a harness, lol.

They do hard tails and full customs frames for a lot of common Japanese bikes. I think they do sportsters too. I had questions when mine arrived and Kate was pretty patient with me.

lol, very true. All the cables would have to be extended quite a bit for that.

They will both have to be extended maybe a foot each in order to reach the E box.

Wiring is coming along. Where the hell to I mount the starter solenoid? Insulate it and put it in the fake oild take with the rest of the electronics? Thanks

Starter solenoid location on a rigid 82 CB750?

Been working on the basic wiring for a few days and I'm not sure about the where it should go. Curious on what everybody has done for the starter solenoid? I have a rigid now with a TC Bros fake oil tank for the electronics. Can it go in with the other electronics as long as its properly...

    1982 CB750sc NightHawk Build

Final assembly (hopefully) of the front and rear end. Front end has new fork seals, shaved one fork (going down to one caliper), progressive springs, All Balls bearings, shaved triple tree and painted with VHT roll bar and chassis paint. Waiting on rubber inserts for the headlight bucket. Rear...

the original triple backbone was cut out and replaced with a single backbone by a local shop. Besides that and tig welding the hardtail on, everything has been done by me in my garage
