I've been doing a lot of searching regarding this and cannot find a definitive answer. My service manual says to apply liquid gasket to the "portions of the gasket that contact the crankcase mating surfaces." Wouldn't that be the whole gasket? And does that mean to apply it only to the one side...

Not sure what to call it. I'm replacing the front sprocket on my KZ400. The one on there has a cylindrical "stud" pressed into a hole in the sprocket, but the new one does not. What is the purpose of this part? Thanks, Bill

Having wheels rebuilt. I already took them apart and had the rims powdercoated. Took them to the guy who is putting them back together and he asked me if I measured the offset before I took them apart. I did not. Does anyone know what the offset is for a 76 KZ400, or is there is any offset at all?

Pulling apart a 76 KZ400d3 motor for a rebuild, this is what I found behind the stator cover. Is corrosion on the starter clutch a big deal? Also, should there be oil in there? A good bit ran out when I cracked the cover open. There's a small gap between the cases that I can see. There's also...

In the title, I'd like to replace the keyed cap on my 76 KZ400 with a keyless one from a 74-75, but I'm not sure if the tanks are the same. They look the same from pics I've seen, but I'm not sure if they're dimensionally different. Thanks, Bill

Are there any physical issues with mounts, etc., when putting the revised 78+ engine in a 76 frame, or does it bolt right up?
