Also, sorry for the sideways pictures. I turned my camera down to the lowest quality and they still turn sideways. What is the best way to go about cleaning the pistons and valves?

Got the head off today, in order to switch the valve springs around. Got a good look at the top of the pistons and the bottom of the valves. There is definitely a fair bit of carbon on both! What does everyone think?

Hey all I am having a really hard time sourcing a new headlight assembly. I am looking for either a 5 3/4 or 7" headlight assembly with a 35/35w bulb. I have been searching for a while now and can't seem to find anything. Dime city has a whack of headlights but they all seem to be 55/65w bulbs...

Saturdays Thanks for the moral boost. Honestly, I needed it. Sorry to hear you have had your struggles as well, but I am glad to know I am not the only one. I did further research on this topic and found a few potential solutions, one being the Easy out that mobius suggested. Thanks again for...

Hey all Well I managed to have my first major setback today. I overtightened the bolts on the bracket that holds the cam chain tensioner in place. Both bolt heads sheared right off. Not sure how I managed to be such a moron but, I guess it happens. I am hoping they can be salvaged by drilling...

Got the engine painted finally. I am taking all the covers off in order to place the stock bolts with stainless allen head bolts. Also, I decided to check out the cam chain tensioner to see if it is in decent shape. Boy am I glad I took a look. It is about 2 seconds away from shattering into the...

I can't tell if there was a previous helicoil attempt yet. The hole is dark and deep and I don't have the top cover off yet. Once I get it off then Ill let you know.

How would you do it with a motorcycle engine? I have a carbon fibre catamaran sailboat that I have put helicoils in using an epoxy resin.

Here is something interesting I found today. A completely loose bolt in the top cover. It will not thread into anything. It just sits there. I think it is proper length as I compared it to the other 4 corners and it's identical. It feels like it's too small for the hole it's in. Weird. Pics...

Hey Saturdays Your build is coming along man. The engine work looks fun as hell but scary as hell!! I am very intimidated by it. Most of the guys on here have been telling me to take a look at the cam chain guide/tensioner and overall cam health but, for the most part, just leave the engine...
