I have a complete top end sealing kit for the early KZ400 engines that had the top end oil leak issues. It is complete except for the head gasket. I ended up swapping in a franken-440 motor so I don't need this. I paid 142.90 shipped for it, but I'll sell it for 100 shipped in the US.
It...
I've been doing a lot of searching regarding this and cannot find a definitive answer. My service manual says to apply liquid gasket to the "portions of the gasket that contact the crankcase mating surfaces." Wouldn't that be the whole gasket? And does that mean to apply it only to the one side...
Not sure what to call it. I'm replacing the front sprocket on my KZ400. The one on there has a cylindrical "stud" pressed into a hole in the sprocket, but the new one does not. What is the purpose of this part?
Thanks,
Bill
I have a bunch of stock parts pulled off a 76 KZ400. Pic attached of the bike. Also have the rear signals and tail light not pictured. Let me know what you're looking for and I'll let you know if I have it. Wheels, frame, and cat not for sale.

I have a set of carbs for sale from a 76 kz400d3. They are working, but probably need synced. When I got the bike I disassembled them, cleaned everything, replaced the main jets and orings as well as the float bowl orings. The bike fired right up. I'm swapping the motor now though so I don't...
Having wheels rebuilt. I already took them apart and had the rims powdercoated. Took them to the guy who is putting them back together and he asked me if I measured the offset before I took them apart. I did not. Does anyone know what the offset is for a 76 KZ400, or is there is any offset at all?
Pulling apart a 76 KZ400d3 motor for a rebuild, this is what I found behind the stator cover. Is corrosion on the starter clutch a big deal? Also, should there be oil in there? A good bit ran out when I cracked the cover open. There's a small gap between the cases that I can see. There's also...
In the title, I'd like to replace the keyed cap on my 76 KZ400 with a keyless one from a 74-75, but I'm not sure if the tanks are the same. They look the same from pics I've seen, but I'm not sure if they're dimensionally different.
Thanks,
Bill
