    1981 6v cg125 ridiculously high voltage output

I've sorted it now anyway. And the voltage isn't regulated for the lighting system it simply has a ballast resistor connected the the +ve side of the loom reducing the voltage when the revs pick up. The resistor was incorrectly installed and therefore would not prevent the voltage from...

    1981 6v cg125 ridiculously high voltage output

I'm afraid that wiring diagrams from one of the newer bikes, mines a 6v points system with direct ac from the generator. Doesn't run a CDI so that loom isn't the right one, I've found its supposed to have a ballast resistor in the circuit which I've wired in but it appears to be smoking which...

    1981 6v cg125 ridiculously high voltage output

As far as i'm aware it should be producing around 7-8v max so it doesn't blow the bulbs etc. Although the rectifier is only a 2 pin used to convert the AC from the genny into DC to charge the battery. So as far as i'm aware it does not regulate/rectify the feed to the headlight & running light...

    1981 6v cg125 ridiculously high voltage output

So I've recently got round to sorting the electrics out on my 1981 cg125 and come across a whole bag of issues. To begin with, the voltage from the generator is reading around 6-8v at idle. With increased revs the multimeter has been showing up to 38v!!! Really surprised, currently running 12v...

    27mm Clip ons!

They weren't too bad until I crashed a couple times... resulted in a couple of sheared pinch bolts but besides that they really are hreat for the money, cant fault £27 for them, light weight too!

CG125 Engine Casing - Bolt Size?

No worries guys they were 40mm with one 45mm bolt just above centrifugal oil filter. I'll make sure they have an ample lathering with moly grease before these ones go back in! Tom

CG125 Engine Casing - Bolt Size?

Dont suppose any of you know the length of the side casing bolts of the top of your head? Tom.

CG125 Engine Casing - Bolt Size?

Right, So I've come round to replacing the clutch on my 81 cg, and having to drill some of the casing bolts out has left me in a deficit of bolts. Well I say bolts, they're the type with the Phillips head and are awful to say the least! Anyway to cut a long story short, I'm hoping that one of...

Cb 125T Cafe Racer on a budget

Re: cb 125T cafe/brat racer budget build Id check the inside of the air filter mouth most of them depending on if its a genuine K&N have a restricted throat making them perform like dirt! Its a real performance decrease for the bike as it wont run anywhere near to what it should do! Tom.

    The SkyTeam 'Ace' Resource

Re: the "Ace" - deep breathing! That's fair enough it still looks one hell of a bike crazy! ;D is it a vm22 or 26 may I ask? I've been thinking of maybe putting a flat slide on my cg to see what it will perform like! As for mine heres how it stands atm, still looking to loose the battery box...

    The SkyTeam 'Ace' Resource

Re: the "Ace" - stoppers! I was trying to think what else could be done to improve the visual image of the bike and must admit that the rear mudguard would make one hell of a difference if it was to be shortened or even removed all together. Like most on here it would be easy to mount a little...

    The SkyTeam 'Ace' Resource

Re: the "Ace" - adding lightness! Are you planning on fabricating some kind of tray or strap for it to sit to stop it bouncing around inside it?

New to DTT, and starting a '73 CB125 cafe build!

If I were you I would stick with the K&N those cheap Emgo filters have a restricted mouth on them. If you look on the inside from what the carb mouth is it diameter decreases on the rubber boot, I read about it on a thread and didn't realise at all until I found myself dissecting one in order...

    125cc to 150cc engine swap

Turns out the advancer on the flywheel (being points) was 180 degrees out so the spark was happing at 0 amount of compression when the piston was at the bottom of its stroke, left it overnight and it fired up 3rd kick no problems, might consider putting the 150 engine into it now it works with...

    125cc to 150cc engine swap

well seeing as I couldn't get it to run I figured id take it out and put the old one back in until I got the needed parts such as the cdi, loom coil etc. And now the engine feels like there's no compression and it wont fire it, its got spark, petrol, all I can think of is the timing must be...

    125cc to 150cc engine swap

Would the conversion work on the 125 engine if I was to want to put it back into the frame?

    125cc to 150cc engine swap

Basically ive swapped my cg125 engine out for a 150cc champ engine. Heres the issue. The 150cc engine was a cdi so I've swapped the stator plate, flywheel, points from my cg125 engine onto the 150cc engine and now I can the bike to run, Would anyone be able to advise me what I could do in...

cg125br-j cafe build/ conversion. Are We There Yet?

Just found a suitable engine a 150 Chinese engine under the brand 'champ' for a measly sum of £10 and a listed good compression if all goes to plan and I win the engine ill be picking it up at the weekend and see if I get a little more power from this one ;)
