Re: 1973 XL175 Orange Soda Hell Ride
I've got a 1973 XL175 myself as well. My kickstarter is fine but I ran it out of oil while it was idling in my garage as I was trying to sort out some carb issues so I spend the summer rebuilding the top end. I found a nice used piston and cylinder and a set...
What kick start lever did you end up using? I added a kicker to my SR250 several years ago and tried using a lever off an XS400 but it hits the engine case if I'm not careful. Before I go about grinding down my existing lever I figured I'd ask what kind you're using.
I remember the Green Machines from when I was a kid but they were the pedal kind. They were the alternative to a Big Wheel and were a blast from what I remember. Looks like Huffy makes them now.... http://www.amazon.com/Huffy-Green-Machine/dp/B00461G4ZE
The rear shocks and muffler seem a bit shiney next to the rest of the bike. Any way you can give them a more of a brushed nickel look? Other than that the bike is by far one of my favorite builds in a while. :D
Short answer is yes. Here's a place that sells nice ones.... http://www.fastfromthepast.com/servlet/the-Fork-Braces/Categories
A lot of us add them even if we keep the fender.
I just installed a pair of those on my KZ400 cafe project and I was impressed with the quality as well, especially considering the price. The best part is I shaved off almost 8" of bar width vs the old bars. :D
I've still got my SR250 which was my first bike in the garage. I added a kick start to it which was a good idea since the electric starter crapped out first thing the following spring. >:(
Since this whole thread should have been killed off about 12 pages ago, I have to wonder where the moderators are and why this thing hasn't been killed off before now? I realize that moderating is an a fine line between keeping the peace and censorship but this shit has gotten wayyyyy out of...
My wife is the same way except I can't even get her on the back of my bike. I took her for a spin around a state park when we were camping once and she yelled at me whenever I broke 25mph. I tried explaining that it's even harder to control at low speeds with 2 people on the bike but she...
I am seriously slacking. I've been here for a little over 3 years now and I haven't even hit the 500 mark. Of course I did spend last winter repairing my Nighthawk after I slid it into a ditch at 45mph instead of working on my cafe racer. >:( Sold that bike, bought a Bandit for my regular rider...
I haven't met any members in person yet but I have swapped parts and knowledge with plenty of them. I have several friends that I met on a pop up camper forum that I belonged to that I've been camping with for at least 6 years now. I don't even have the pop up anymore but I still frequent the...
