    Fibreglass and foam

I've read on here that fibreglass eats/melts some foams. Just wondering if 2 pack epoxy resin eats away at the dense closed cell foam used in camping sleeping mats. Thanks

    Elecrical gremlins

Hi guys. sorry for the slow reply, life got in the way for a while. I've attached the pages from the manual showing the tests I did. I'm still not getting the correct numbers for the reg/rec test. I'm getting 145000ohms where it should be 6-8 and 32000 where it should be 65-85. It still...

Just realised my meter might not be overcomming the breakdown voltage of the diodes. I will redo all the tests tonight with a different meter and post both the methodology and results.

    Elecrical gremlins

At work right now. I'll post scans of the pages from the manual tonight. The more i think of it, the more i think my multimeter is bust. According to the multimeter there is 1.25 million ohms across the reg/rec where there should be only 7-8 so i would think the battery shouldn't get a charge...

I have had a problem with my gn250 running rough for a while. It will idle ok but when i turn the headlight on the idle speed drops by about 1000 rpm. I tracked it down to the regulator/rectifier and replaced that about 2 months ago. Now the problem has started again so i checked the new...

Of neighbors, cops and bad form

I think pipes depend on the install. Obnoxiously loud pipes on a commuter that gets run in the early hours just give riders a bad name. If the bike is only run during gentlemans hours then i like a performance exhaust system. In my mind there is a big difference between pipes that are loud for...

    Idiot week

I'm sure its idiot week here in nz. So far this week i've had 5 close calls. 3 of them i had to do emergency stops to avoid cars going the wrong way down a one way street and the other two were for pedestrians who prefer the middle of the road over the footpath. Anyway just need a rant. Since...

    GN250 top end

Smokes when cold and when unded load. Seems ok on the overrun. I'd replace the valve seals and lap or recut the valve seats when it is open. The big issue is if the bore is worn or not. I can get a 2nd hand engine for less than a piston plus shipping. While cost of rings and gaskets is about...

    GN250 top end

So the mighty gn has taken up smoking and using oil. Does anyone know how these usually wear? Can i get away with a hone and new rings or am i looking at a oversize piston?

Of neighbors, cops and bad form

Thinking about this reminds me of a mates stag party. He had a big hotmix turning area at the end of his driveway and in the type of idea that seems smart when pissed we tied the winch on his 4x4 to the towbar of a car. Then he got in the car, spun up the tyres and had the car swinging back and...

When someone is being an arsehole revving the engine while making can't hear you gestures is an option. Makes you as big an arsehole as them though. Here in New Zealand the local council does noise complaints not the cops. When someone makes a noise complaint it is put on their property record...

    '87 Honda NSR250 'ELF Special'

Re: NSR250 revival No NSR expertise. I've rebuilt a few 4 strokes and a lawnmower 2 stroke but aren't what you would call an expert.

    Beachcomber's Tales from the day

    Fork seals

It's confirmed, i'm a dumbass. I put the flat side towards the oil. Last time i got a bike shop to do it and they put them flat side in as well. Thanks drj

    Fork seals

I'm a Dumbass. I think i put my new fork seals in backwards. Does the flat side face outwards and the side with the flange and springs go towards the oil?
