I am selling an XS650 cafe bike. Located in Birmingham for anyone who is headed down for the Barber Vintage Festival in a few weeks. Here is a link to the local craigslist ad:

In case anyone at the festival is interested, I have a bike for sale. I am located in Birmingham but am not planning on being at the festival this weekend (but I can arrange something if necessary).

I was planning on maybe putting the bike on ebay once it starts to warm up, but I figure I may as well put it on here first and see what happens.

Who has used the spraymax 2k clear with good results? Yesterday I used 1 can to clear a largish tank, fender, and seat. I got 3 coats on everything. I wasn't really sure how heavy to lay it but I tried to keep the can 6-8 inches from the parts. The clear has dried nice and hard and is quite...
I think it was some combination of humidity, air temp, and dew point instead of overspray; I was careful to kind of spray away from the wet paint. I went back later in the afternoon when humidity was 30-35%, and before I sprayed I warmed the part for a few minutes in the sun. I put on one last...
wow, have you used this product?? i'm actually gonna clear everything tomorrow with the spraymax clear....i had no idea this product existed otherwise i would have used it for sure.
I have been spraying several pieces using a duplicolor metallic black perfect match rattle can. I'm having trouble getting a nice smooth final coat on without getting these "flat" spots all over. Maybe this is what is called "blush"? (The majority of the coat is nice and glossy and shows a...
I see. Oh well, live and learn. The lacquer over enamel is obviously no good. But I've been told that enamel over lacquer might work ok, right? Anyone have any experience with this?
Yea, that's what I was afraid of. As I've already put a bunch of time into some metal flake stripes along the tops of all the pieces I think I'll just sand down to the black. The white is only on the sides so that should work ok I guess.
Out of curiosity, what would happen to the paint in...
I love this write-up, its written so well that even I can almost not screw it up.
Ok, here's what I've done so far. I got as far as getting my tank and body pieces painted black with the "bonding" coats of clear over the top. The paint is from the duplicolor paint match line and it is a...
These are the very rough results from my attempt to make a seat that will a) hide the battery and b) have a removable portion that hides a seat for a 2nd rider. Now I think I'm realizing that it is huge! I guess it won't look quite so big when the seat pan has an inch of foam and upholstery on...
I tried my first ever fiberglass seat build recently. My method was just to make a mold of the seat on the bike then glass over the top of it. I suppose I didn't take enough time in the mold stage, because the fiberglass piece needed a lot of bondo, particularly on one side, to make it look...
Thanks gents for the advice! I am partial to the cb550 myself as well. However, the xs650 is being offered at half the price and is much more conveniently located.....which makes me wonder, is there any great difference in the performance of the two bikes? From what I can tell, there seems to...
What's up everyone? I'm a relatively new rider who's looking for a good bike for a cafe conversion. I have no experience riding an old bike. I also do not have any experience working on bikes, but I'm handy with a wrench in other applications. So anyhow, I've been keeping my eyes open for a...
