Alright, good to know. I'm glad I found your post. How did you decide where to place your rear loop? Was it based on the shape and placement of the tank?
Yes! So much to think about. And in what order?! I don't want to lose a week of riding season since mine is so short (Minnesota).
I think I'm going to chop the behind off mine and go with a DCC loop. I'm going to do the chopping myself and hire out the welding. If I have more typos than...
I have considered a front end swap actually. After doing some research though, I opted not to for the reasons you stated (potentially expensive and complicated). Thans for the response to my post.

Hey all! I've done some searching and can't seem to find an answer. I really tried to keep my stock tank but just can't do it. Curious if a 1978 CB400 tank will bolt right onto my 1980. If not, any insights you have for easy swaps would be MUCH appreciated.

Super stoked to be a first time motorcycle owner and even more stoked to eventually be a cafe racer owner. I purchased a 1980 CB400T with under 5,000 miles. I'm going to take it slow and will start with getting-to-know-you maintenance exercises, then this winter I will start slowly venturing...
