Designer jacket will demand a designer price. Like the creator of the thread I hate the modern look of most non-leather riding jackets, but I'm not a denim fan either.

Thanks, I figured painting would be a bad option. I'll give the vinegar/polish/wax a go with the springs a a few other parts!

I'm repainting the frame and polishing/painting as much of the original pieces of the bike as possible, but I'm not sure how to tackle the springs. Is there a way to polish them up, or should I simply find a way to paint them black?

Instead of purchasing those VMX bars just hit up Ebay for an OEM set of cl350 handlebars. They look to be exactly the same and you can get them for half the price. You're usually helping out another garage builder whenever you buy off ebay too (unless they're a parts stripper).

I'll hopefully have some up by the end of the week. My buddy agreed to do the engine work and some other odds n ends to get it ride-able as a trade for the 360.

The Barbour stuff has a few classy pieces, but most of it looks like it's trying too hard. I didn't see where any had armor available either. :-\
